That HD vid makes a huge difference. I would record that way even though the format is slightly stretched. Looks much better... almost as if we have the non-compressed original file.

yep, I'm going to start recording with the HD camera in HD instead of SD, it looks much better to me too. It has 4 different HD modes, maybe there's one that's not quite as wide but still really good quality. This video was me just testing the process to see if it was worth the disk space/time.

I just watched it in full screen and it looks way better than the one shot from 6/21/08 for comparison. Much more detail and even better color somehow. Usually watching in full screen is just not much of an option.

I found something out:
Today's video was shot at HD 1920x1080i (16:9 wide and thus squeezed into the normal 4:3 video player size)

The previous video was shot at SD 720x480 (4:3 normal)

going forward I'll try 1440x1080i and see if that fits a little better yet retains the HD quality I'm after

Best way to quickly tell would be to shoot something circular like a wheel and see if it comes out egg shaped or not. Either way it's going to look amazing compared to the already nice quality from the other new vids.

yeah I took some video of a cdrom earlier but until you encode to wmv and upload you can't tell any difference.
