Tennesspeed Day in Bowling Green

Don't look now, but we're just a tad over 30 days away from Tennesspeed Day 2008. We know money is tight with most folks given fuel prices and other factors, so this year we have held the line on entry fees.


When: September 6th, 2008, 8am-3pm
Where: Beech Bend Raceway, Bowling Green, Ky
Costs: $40 to race only, $10 to spectate

Drag Racing

As with past events, the track will be open to all participants throughout the day. You are welcome to make as many passes as you would like in the allotted time for the event. (8am-3pm).

We have, through the years, tried several formats and special events at this event, but this year we will likely follow the following format:

Grudge Matches

If you would like to challenge a fellow board member(s) to a grudge race at the event, you can obviously line up together at any point during the day. However, if you would like the thrill of putting your money where your mouth is in front of all your Tennesspeed peers, we will be more than happy to announce over the P/A when such a run is going to occur and let everyone get into a good position to spectate.

Lunch

Like last year, we would like to have a scheduled lunch activity that would allow all the members to “meet-and-greet” each other. We expect a big turnout and it would be nice to meet as many members in person as is possible. Although we have not confirmed it yet, the Nashville Chapter of SVTOA has partnered with us in the past to provide lunch. We will let you know soon if that is the case again in 2008. General grillin' fare will be available (hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cokes, etc.) for a nominal fee. Track will be closed for one hour for lunch and re-prep.

Screen Names

This year, in addition to having screen names on the cars, we would like to have name badges. We think something as simple as the sticker-badges that say “Hi, my name is….” would be fine and inexpensive. This would help people identify each other as they are walking around in the pit area away from their cars.

Drivers Meeting

There will be a "driver's meeting" before opening the staging lanes just to go over the day's events and rules.

Prizes

We would certainly like to have stuff to give away this year like we did last year. If any of you who own businesses or know someone who would like to help out with some donations, please contact David or Garagelogic.
