just a note at 280 for a ring and pinion install must noty include replacing bearing because its bookes at 5 hours time which means gtr works for about 56.00 an hour which is very low if u ask me dont want to watse your time but from my info i;m looking at around 400 for the install if its done right with an install kit mabe less if we leave the side bearings out but you will at least need new pinion bearings and a shim kit to set it up properly

There is a bearing kit that goes along with the Ring and pinion available from Ford Racing Parts. I have never had to deal with a rear gear and pinion so I have limited knowledge. My question is do you have to remove the axles from the housing? What I'm getting at is: is a rear gear install a good time to upgrade axles and use c-clip eliminators?

Yes, you have to remove the axle to install the gears but they are not hard to remove. They are only held in by C-clips and it only takes about 10 minutes to remove them. As for upgrading the axles and using C-clip eliminators, if you have the cash do it at the same time especially if you are going to pay someone to do it. You'll save money because they already have to remove the axle. However, installing C-clip eliminators is labor intensive and will cost a good deal more. If I remember correctly, it took me 3 or 4 hours to install them on my Chevelle. If the carrier bearings are in good shape you can save some money by reusing them. I didn't need to replace the carrier bearings when I rebuilt the carrier in my Explorer at 120,000 miles. They still looked good.
